We are The Royal Wootton Basset Shed a.k.a. The RWB Shed. The shed was established in January 2017, from an idea and suggestion voiced by Rotarians of The Royal Wootton Bassett Rotary Club. We are a member of the U.K. Men’s Shed Association (UKMSA), however membership is not restricted to men alone, we welcome lady members of which we currently have two.

RWB Shed
Our former location at RWB Fire Brigade

The only restriction is age related and you need to be 18 or older. We are a friendly band of locals and generally of a retired nature. There are various skills that our members bring to the shed, but one thing we have found is a must is a good sense of humour. Members are affectionately referred to as ‘Shedders’ We work primarily with wood but we have many skill sets within our team. You can read about the projects we have completed by clicking here

We undertake various projects. Either for the individual member or maybe for a resident of Royal Wootton Bassett or, indeed, for our Town Council.

To provide finances to purchase consumables and the replacement of/or purchase of additional items of machinery we produce items to sell at fetes or shows.
2020 was particularly difficult for us and similar to many charitable organisations, we have had very few opportunities to sell our wares.

Where It All Began

Back in 2017…..
The Dorset & Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service kindly offered space in the outdoor area of the local fire station and the sheds that we use were donated from Car Fest.
The pictures show the initial setup of the buildings. Much of the initial kit used to equip the sheds came from donated sources. As time has moved on, so has some of that kit, to be replaced with newer versions.
The shed receives donated kit from time to time and it is either used within the shed itself or refurbished by third parties and then donated to deserving outlets.
