John Loran, one of our shedders is also a member of the The RWB Rotary Club. Some months ago, he along with two other Rotarians formed a charitable trust called ‘The RWB Community Garden and Nature Reserve Trust‘ working in collaboration with the Town Council to improve ‘green spaces’ in the town with the objective to promote a variety of plant and animal species whilst maintaining accessibility to the local community.
The Nature Reserve area is owned by Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council who have leased it to The RWB Community Garden and Nature Reserve Trust. It will be run by volunteers and sponsored by Rotary and Wiltshire Council. This undertaking is on a 2 acre site close to Churchill Close & Lindisfarne in the Woodshaw area. Clearing the site and preparing it for future use has taken around 8 months, but it now close to fruition and so it was decided that descriptive and instructional signage should be installed, ready for its first visitors.
John made the frame to mount the two information boards from various donations of wood.
The legs were cut from industrial fence posts used by GWR to fence the temporary by-pass road used during bridge changes for electrification. Plywood off-cuts from G&P Cases were used to hold signs designed by Marilyn Trew and printed by H&W Printers.
