John Loran, one of our members has recently completed a memento box that he wished to make.
He made it from plywood donated by G&P Cases.
The construction was quite clever, in that he built the box as a completely closed structure and then on the table saw, using a fine blade, the top of the box was cut off.
This then allowed the grain to match perfectly. Inside of the box was fitted thin extension pieces against the inner walls, so that when the lid closes it fits extremely snug.
Brass hinges, felt lining and polyurethane varnish completed the manufacture and really sets it off nicely.
